Academic writing assistant for Claude Code. Supports LaTeX and Typst for English papers and Chinese theses. Helps researchers and students automate formatting, citations, and draft generation.
git clone https://github.com/bahayonghang/academic-writing-skills.gitAcademic Writing Skills is a collection of six specialized tools for researchers and students working in Claude Code. It handles post-draft validation and polish for LaTeX papers (English and Chinese), Typst documents, cover letters, and bibliography management. Each skill targets a specific workflow: compile diagnostics, reviewer-style auditing, grammar and logic checking, citation verification, and de-AI editing. The skills are designed to improve existing drafts rather than generate papers from scratch, with outputs ranging from diff-style suggestions to structured audit reports. Installation is via npm, and workflows are driven by natural language prompts.
Install via `npx skills add bahayonghang/academic-writing-skills`, then open Claude Code in your manuscript project and describe your task in natural language. Each skill (cover-letter, paper-audit, latex-paper-en, latex-thesis-zh, typst-paper, bib-search-citation) has a SKILL.md file documenting triggers, inputs, and outputs. For script-based workflows, use `uv run python` with the relevant helper script and flags.
Compile and debug LaTeX errors in English conference and journal papers
Audit Chinese theses against GB/T 7714 bibliography standards and university templates
Run peer-review-style critiques on manuscripts to identify blockers and polish issues
