Platform: Google. metadata: platform: Google --- # 11/ Bid Strategy Recommendations — Google ## What it does Analyzes your campaign history, conversion volume, CPA targets, and auction dynamics, then recommends the right bid strategy for each campaign — manual CPC, target CPA, target ROAS, maximize conversions, or maximize conversion value. Not a blanket recommendation, but campaign-by-campaign based on the data. ## How it works Claude evaluates each campaign's conversion volume (whether it has enough data for automated bidding to work), CPA consistency (high variance means automated strategies will struggle), budget headroom, and competitive landscape. It also looks at your current strategy's performance trend to determine if switching would likely improve or hurt results. ## Practical example You have 8 search campaigns all running maximize conversions. Claude identifies that 3 of them have fewer than 15 conversions per month — not enough for the algorithm to optimize effectively. It recommends switching those to manual CPC with specific bid suggestions. For the 2 campaigns with 100+ monthly conversions, it recommends target CPA set at $42 (10% above current CPA to give the algorithm room). The remaining 3 are performing well on current strategy and should stay as-is. ## What you get back - Campaign-by-campaign bid strategy recommendation with reasoning - Minimum conversion thresholds each campaign needs for automated bidding - Recommended target CPA or ROAS values based on historical data - Risk assessment for each strategy change (expected short-term performance dip during learning) - Transition plan with timing recommendations to avoid disrupting active campaigns ## When to use it - When onboarding new accounts to set up strategies correctly from the start - Quarterly bid strategy reviews to catch campaigns that have outgrown or underperform their current strategy - When conversion volume changes significantly (up or down) - Before scaling campaigns, because the right strategy at $5K/month might be wrong at $25K/month ## Data access (Ryze MCP) This skill works best with live account data. Analyze the Google Ads campaign data for [ACCOUNT_NAME] over the past [TIME_PERIOD, e.g., 3 months]. For each campaign ([CAMPAIGN_NAME_1], [CAMPAIGN_NAME_2], etc.), evaluate historical CPA, conversion volume, auction competitiveness, and budget constraints. Recommend the optimal bid strategy (manual CPC, target CPA, target ROAS, maximize conversions, or maximize conversion value) for each campaign based on [BUSINESS_OBJECTIVE, e.g., profitability, volume, or brand awareness]. Include justification for each recommendation and highlight campaigns that may need bid adjustments or budget reallocation. Prioritize campaigns with the highest potential ROI or volume gains.
Here’s a bid strategy recommendation for Acme Corp’s Google Ads account (3-month analysis period ending June 2024). The account includes 8 campaigns across Search, Shopping, and Display networks, with a total spend of $125,000 generating 1,200 conversions at an average CPA of $104.20. **Search Campaigns:** 1. **Branded Search (Acme + Brand)** – Current strategy: Manual CPC. Recommendation: *Target CPA* (current CPA: $82, target: $75). Justification: High conversion volume (450/month) with stable CPA below target. Switching to target CPA could reduce CPA by 9% while maintaining volume. 2. **Non-Branded High Intent** – Current strategy: Target ROAS 300%. Recommendation: *Maximize Conversions* (current ROAS: 280%, target: 350%). Justification: Low conversion volume (80/month) with high ROAS variability. Maximize conversions could increase volume by 25% with minimal ROAS erosion. 3. **Generic Keywords** – Current strategy: Manual CPC. Recommendation: *Target CPA* (current CPA: $145, target: $120). Justification: High CPA but strong volume (300/month). Target CPA could reduce CPA by 17% with a 10% volume trade-off. **Shopping Campaigns:** 1. **Standard Shopping** – Current strategy: Target ROAS 250%. Recommendation: *Target ROAS 275%* (current ROAS: 260%). Justification: ROAS is slightly below target, but increasing to 275% could improve profitability without significant volume loss. 2. **Smart Shopping** – Current strategy: Maximize Conversion Value. Recommendation: *Keep current strategy*. Justification: Smart Shopping is already optimized for value, and historical data shows consistent performance (ROAS: 310%, CPA: $95). **Display Campaigns:** 1. **Prospecting Display** – Current strategy: Maximize Conversions. Recommendation: *Target CPA* (current CPA: $180, target: $150). Justification: High CPA with low conversion quality. Target CPA could reduce waste while maintaining volume. **Budget Reallocation Notes:** - Reallocate 15% of budget from Generic Keywords (Manual CPC) to Non-Branded High Intent (Maximize Conversions) to prioritize higher-intent traffic. - Pause underperforming Display campaigns with CPA >$200 and reallocate funds to Shopping campaigns. **Next Steps:** 1. Implement recommendations gradually over 2 weeks to monitor impact. 2. Use Google Ads’ ‘Bid Strategy Report’ to track performance against targets. 3. Re-evaluate in 30 days to adjust for seasonality or market changes.
