OpenXrypt is a Chrome extension that adds OpenPGP encryption to direct messages on Twitter and WhatsApp Web, ensuring only sender and recipient can read message content. It automatically encrypts and decrypts messages while providing a user-friendly interface for managing GPG public and private keys locally in your browser. The extension supports group message encryption when all participants' public keys are registered, and includes timeline encryption features that allow you to post encrypted messages visible only to intended recipients. OpenXrypt solves the problem of unencrypted social media communication by enabling secure conversations without relying on platform-provided encryption, making it valuable for users concerned about privacy, data breaches, and unauthorized monitoring on social platforms.

Install OpenXrypt from the Chrome Extensions page in Developer mode, then add your contacts' GPG public keys and your own private key via the Manage Keys interface. To encrypt a message, select text in a DM or compose field and click the Encrypt button; encrypted messages will be automatically decrypted when received if you have the corresponding private key.
