Skill-Cortex Server is a third-party MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that brings Claude Code Skills capabilities to any IDE by automatically scanning and indexing SKILL.md files from multiple sources. It provides hierarchical skill tree navigation, full-text search across indexed skills, and context-aware skill retrieval with token compression to reduce context window usage. Developers and operations teams benefit from integrated AI-powered coding assistance within their existing workflows. The server supports flexible configuration with custom skill roots and cache paths, built-in tag validation and management, and detailed skill information retrieval with section-based extraction (summary, instructions, examples, or full content).
How to Use
Install with `pip install -e .` (requires Python 3.11+), then run `skill-cortex` to start the server. Place your SKILL.md files in `~/.claude/skills` or `./.skills`. Use MCP tools like `search_skills`, `list_skill_tree`, and `get_skill_details` to discover and retrieve skill information.
