Transform YouTube research into actionable insights with Google Sheets - Free YouTube analytics tool for content creators and marketers
git clone https://github.com/clairechung/YoutubeAssistant.gitYouTube Assistant is a free analytics tool that transforms YouTube video data into actionable insights within Google Sheets. It fetches 20+ metrics including views, engagement rates, performance scores, and hashtag analysis without requiring expensive third-party platforms. The tool categorizes content by type (Shorts, mid-form, long-form), calculates engagement patterns, and identifies top-performing videos. Content creators and marketers use it to discover winning topics, analyze competitors, optimize upload timing, and track trending hashtags. Setup takes three steps: create a Google Sheet, get a free YouTube API key, and configure it through the built-in menu.
Create a new Google Sheet, add the YouTube Assistant code via Extensions > Apps Script, then obtain a free YouTube API key from Google Cloud Console. Configure your API key through the YouTube Assistant menu, enter a search term and result count, then click 'Fetch YouTube Data' to populate your analytics sheet.
